Health Benefits of Living In The Country

If you are planning moving to a village or rural setting, you will have many reasons to do so. Perhaps you have family commitments or you want a break from city living. No matter the reason, you will find many fantastic reasons to head to the countryside.

At Prestige & Village, we are pleased to say we have helped many people move in, out and around rural and village settings. We know the reasons people move to the countryside, and health benefits are a massive factor. If you want to make the most of your life, the health benefits of living in the country are worth considering.

Many people find the countryside to be a less stressful environment

The pace and tension of city living is stressful, and a lot of people damage their health purely because of where they live.

If the noise, people, smells and pressure of living in an urban area is impacting your health, it is time to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.

You have access to organic and fresh food

You are what you eat, and by living in the countryside, you have better options for food. You can access fruit and vegetables which are grown locally, perhaps even by yourself at home.

You also have fewer fast-food options on your doorstep, so you’ll be more likely to make a healthier option when it comes to dining. A small change like this can significantly impact your overall dining experience.

You are part of something bigger than yourself

Even though there are many people living in the city, most people keep themselves to themselves. For many individuals, urban living is quite lonely, and there is no opportunity to engage or interact with others.

This isn’t the case in the countryside. Even though there are fewer people, it is likely you will engage with them more often. There is a lot to be said for finding yourself in a close-knit community.

Having people around you for support and guidance helps you feel connected, and can even improve your health.

There is less pollution in the countryside

Another big factor to consider in favour of rural living is you’ll experience less pollution. If you live in a major city, you are exposed to toxins daily, and over time, this negatively impacts your health.

This isn’t to say every rural living smell is pleasant, sometimes you can be too close to nature, but the air is healthier. For many people, the cleaner air is a huge draw, and a big reason as to why rural living is healthier than living in the city.

You are forced into more activities

Living in a rural setting will force you to walk more than a city lifestyle does. Fewer taxis and public transport options means you will walk more, and of course, many paths or trails are unsuitable for cars.

If you need a push to walk more, set up home in the countryside.
